As joint owner of Farthing Wood Nursery with Emma, I am a qualified early years practitioner with 20+ years experience and a mum of 2. I am also Nursery chef and try hard to incorporate various dietary requirements whilst embracing healthy eating. I also work with the children each day enjoying activities enabling me to provide a holistic feel to nursery life. Providing an exceptional care, fun, educational and safe environment is central to our vision for the Nursery, which we have had from day one.

We pride ourselves bei
ng a close family run nursery where children, staff and parents are always made to feel welcome and part of life at Farthing Wood.

Emma

My sister Claire and I have been proprietors of Farthing Wood Nursery for nearly 20 years and previously gaining several years experience working as an early years practitioner in various settings. I take on many roles within the Nursery spending most of my time working with the children and supporting their social, emotional and developmental needs in order to give them the best start possible.

I am a mother myself of 2, both of which benefited from
the experience of an enhanced caring environment with a real 'home from home' feel in their formative years, which we feel strongly should be provided to all of our families and children alike.

Staff

Each child has their own key person who helps them settle into nursery, feel at home and to ensure they learn and grow within nursery. Over 90% of staff hold a minimum of level 3 qualification. All staff are trained in Paediatric first aid and safeguarding

children.

Our dedicated management team works closely with our highly skilled staff to provide the most rewarding experience for all children. Our staff – including management – continually look at developing their knowledge and skills.

Parents as Partners

We are extremely passionate about making the journey throughout nursery as smooth as possible for our parents, and forming strong relationships with them.

We actively encourage parents to be part of their child’s journey through regular talks, daily updates, newsletters, feedback forms etc.

Meals

Farthing Wood provides children with a healthy, balanced and nutritional menu. All food is prepared fresh, onsite by our chef and coproprietor – Claire.

Menus are well thought out and dietary and cultural requirements are catered for. The menu works on a 4-week rotational basis.
